President's Message

HFMA Members,

It's another brutally hot day in a very hot, humid, windy, sometimes rainy, sometimes dry, sometimes flooding summer and at the same time sunny, cool and calm just down the road.  Could the weather get any more unpredictable?  I'm afraid so.

Could Healthcare reform legislation get any more unpredictable?  You know so!

You know the saying, "Everybody complains about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it."  Well people are complaining about Healthcare reform and we're going to do something about it!  Our HFMA theme this year is "Believe to Achieve".  More now than ever we need to believe in ourselves, our organizations and each other to help guide us through these turbulent times.  Membership, participation and education in HFMA are the keys to achieving that goal. The National website {www.hfma.org} is loaded with resources that can help us in our daily activities.

Locally, our committees are busy working for you and are always looking for new ideas and members. The VA-DC Chapter's annual Summer Education Conference in Virginia Beach is right around the corner {8/17-8/19}.  We are fortunate to have record sponsorship levels this year from vendors with products and ideas to help us reach our goals.  I hope you can join us for some education, networking and fun. Please take the time to meet our Sponsors, thank them for their support and to hear their ideas.  I think we agree we can use all the help we can get!

I look forward to serving as your Chapter President this year.  Under the leadership of our Past President, Donna Littlepage, the Chapter achieved 100% of the Chapter Balanced Scorecard goals last year! Donna would be the first to tell you this was achieved through the dedication and efforts of many of our Chapter members.  Thank you for your valuable leadership this past year, Donna! Outstanding job by all!
